Where Rates Stand Today
The Federal Reserve’s benchmark rate has sat at 3.50%–3.75% since December 2025, when the Fed delivered its third straight quarter-point cut after moving in September and October. Since then, the Fed has held steady at every meeting in 2026, most recently in June, as officials waited for clearer evidence that inflation was settling back toward its 2% target. Heading into this week, the Fed’s own March projections had pointed to just one more cut this year. That call is now in question.
