Depending on their mandate, these funds may focus on investment-grade bonds, high-yield (a.k.a. junk bonds), or a mix of credit quality. The Malaysian government is the largest issuer of bonds in the country, with around US$300 billion of debt outstanding. Investors can purchase these funds for capital growth and income. As a growing east-Asian economy, Malaysia is seen as an attractive emerging market for many investors.
